Cost
£335 for the 2-day workshop (includes coffees and lunch on both days)
Aims
To enhance skilfulness in using motivational interviewing. More specifically, we aim to:
- Pay close attention to using relfective listening to explore ambivalence and evoke change talk
- Clarify how communication styles used at home and in organisations are linked to MI, and not.
- Use numerous demonstrations and other media to illustrate the spirit and practice of MI.
- Examine how the design of services can be improved in line with the integration of MI into everyday practice.
- Consider topics like brief consultations, evidence, group applications, practitioner competence certification and others raised by participants.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will have:
- Knowledge of the principles, spirit, and skills of MI.
- A grasp of how the style of motivational interviewing may be integrated into other communication styles and treatment approaches
- Enhanced practice skills
- Greater confidence and competence in the application of motivational interviewing to their own areas of work.
